Inside Stephen Mulhern's life off-screen from romances to impressive net worth

Stephen Mulhern, the telly favourite known for his quick wit and magic tricks, has become a household name through his roles on hit shows like Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Catchphrase, and Britain's Got More Talent.

The 47-year-old entertainer's journey to stardom began with his passion for magic, leading him to grace our screens throughout the '90s. Starting out on the Disney Channel before moving to CITV, where he teamed up with his on-screen co-star for Saturday Showdown.

It was Stephen's charm and humour that have made him a British staple in entertainment and why his infectious personality earned him a centre stage position as the host of ITV's Deal Or No Deal, Saturday Night Takeaway and more recently alongside Holly again.

Despite being in the limelight, Stephen has played his romantic cards close to his chest.

Lately, the rumour mill had been sent into a spin after Stephen was linked to star following their cosy hand-holding in London.

Despite the buzz about their blossoming relationship, Josie silenced claims when speaking to MailOnline: "I'm in love with Stephen Mulhern. There you go. But, story of my life, I don't think he loves me."

Back in 2018, he opened up about his private life, revealing to Celebs Now outlining that it had been a while since he'd explored the dating scene. He said: "Last time I went on a date was about four years ago."

He confessed: "That makes me sound really sad! I need a life. I need to stop working so much." Stephen even shared his take on love's future chances, outright rejecting the idea of online romance.

In the same interview, he shot down internet dating: "No way! One of my best mates met a girl online. But I think it's a bit someone from the TV doing online dating. I think it'd be bizarre."

A similar situation panned out for Stephen back in 2008, when whispers of romance circulated around Stephen and sensation after they both shared the stage together in Birmingham's panto smasher Snow White.

Speculation swirled for nearly three years but neither Stephen or Emma ever confirmed their relationship. After going their separate ways quietly, Stephen reflected on their union as reaching a "natural end" without ever confirming their couple status.

Back in the early noughties, there was a time when Stephen teamed up with Holly Willoughby for Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown, once known as Ministry of Mayhem. An unforgettable moment from their collaboration re-emerged on social media last year, showing the two sharing a kiss, resurfacing memories from an era gone by.

In a nostalgic twist from the clip, Stephen is seen handing Holly a gift. He proposed a cheeky challenge to her, saying: "Here's the deal, if you open it you must wear it for the whole show."

She accepted the playful agreement and unwrapped her gift to discover a festive green hat adorned with mistletoe. An elated Holly triumphantly declared: "Hurray for me! I can kiss all of the boys in the all of the time."

Bursting into song, she chirped: "Tis the season to kiss Holly fa la la la la" to the melody of the Yuletide classic Deck the Halls, yet recoiled when her co-host pecked her on the lips, protesting: "No! Stephen, you don't count!"

Feigning hurt, he retorted: "What do you mean I don't count? Whoever you are under the mistletoe with you must kiss," and planted another smooch before jubilantly exclaiming: "Happy Christmas."

After such success with his on-screen career, Stephen, has been investing his money in many lavish properties across the UK. His portfolio includes homes in Benfleet Essex, Leicester and Barnet.

In 2019, fans were treated to a rare sneak peek inside his London abode, boasting an airy, open-plan design. During a digital house tour, Stephen showcased the living room with its rustic style and comfy brown leather settees.

The entertaining area also features a huge flat-screen and a selection of chic but rustic leather armchairs. Step into his kitchen, and the glamour continues with a grand marble-topped island accompanied by an array of pricy looking seats.

After such a lucrative career spanning the decades, it will really come as no surprise that the TV legend is estimatedly worth millions now.

After bagging himself hosting gigs on the likes of Get Your Act Together, Go For It, The National Lottery Draws, In For A Penny, Deal or No Deal and Dancing On Ice, his earnings have been given a huge boost by all accounts.

In December, it was unveiled that Stephen took home a staggering £800,000 last year, increasing his net worth to an estimated £5 million. This saw his assets rise from £4.1 million to £4.91 million in the year ending February 2022, according to reports.
