Jon Rahm's former teammate plotting immediate return to LIV Golf despite relegation

Send Push

Recently dropped from the ranks, ex-star Kieran Vincent has his eyes set on a swift comeback to the controversial golfing series after facing relegation just last month.

Vincent, together with brother Scott, Kalle Samooja, and Branden Grace, was booted from the lucrative LIV lineup. The ousting has led him back to competing in the Asian Tour, offering a potential pathway back into the Saudi-funded tour.

The player who clinches top spot in the International Series of the Asian Tour by year's end will earn an upgrade to LIV, with John Catlin currently leading as the one to beat.

Following his step down from LIV, Vincent is bent on pursuit on the Asian circuit, eyeing a spot at the top to regain his place. At the Black Mountain Championship this week, Vincent, who once teamed with , shared: "I really enjoyed my time out there, especially with the group of guys that I had.

"They just made it so awesome. If there is any way of being able to get back out there, why wouldn't I do it? I want to do the best I can, and I always do but having the availability of six events which is more than half a season, and with two good weeks suddenly, things can change.

"That is definitely on the forefront of my mind. But it is also about figuring out how I can continue to keep getting better, and how I can continue to use what I have learned to help me get better. That is also something I am trying to do for the rest of the season."

In spite of a comeback, it looks like there won't be room to join Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, and Caleb Surratt over at Legion XIII. Fresh off Vincent's drop to a lower division last season, Rahm is scouting for fresh talent and spilled the beans during his DP World Tour appearance at the Andalucia Masters this week, revealing his search is well underway.

"I still don't have a player who is already signed but we have six or seven in mind," he dished out to Sin Etiquetas on Tuesday. Dropping another tantalising hint, Rahm also conceded that among those 'six or seven' prospects, one is teeing up right there in Andalucia with him.

Despite the setback, Rahm has been nothing but supportive post-Vincent's demotion, offering a helping hand to the promising youngster last month. "I'll tell him that no matter what, he's got my phone number. If he wants or if he needs anything, any advice, all he needs to do is text me, and I'll respond," he declared following his triumph at the 2024 LIV championship.

Having banded together throughout the year, Rahm stands by his team ethos, saying: "We've shared a lot this year, and whenever you compete as a team, that just doesn't go away. Unfortunately, he didn't play his best. He's extremely talented and capable of a lot more than he showed this year, which is the cruel reality of LIV Golf. But if I'm not mistaken he still has a chance."
