Moment man almost blows himself up after lighting firework in bare hand

Shocking footage shows the moment a man nearly blew himself up after trying to set off a - only for it to explode in his bare hand.

The man was filmed trying to launch a into the air on a street inwith his friends watching on. But in a moment of extreme bad judgement, the man lit the in his hand and held it aloft - only for the dangerous stunt to literally backfire as it blew up in his face.

At the start of the clip, he is seen lighting the firework and holding it up into the air while aiming it away from him and his group of pals. The rocket's fuse burns down rapidly as man continues to hold it without putting it down.

The firework begins to shoot a stream of sparks back towards him as the fuse eventually burns down to nothing. His friends scream and run away from the sparking rocket, displaying at least a little more sense than the man as he continues to hold the explosive.

After being abandoned by his friends, he turns to look at the camera right as the firework explodes. The pyrotechnic blows up in the man's face with a loud bang and a bright flash, while he continues to clutch it.

The man is then left to endure the explosion alone as his friends clear the area just before the explosive goes off. The footage ends with the man engulfed in bright light and smoke after his friends shouted at him to "let go".

Footage of the foolish stunt was shared to social media on Sunday with a group of emojis as the caption. The footage has since received over 1,100 likes and more than 160 comment, with many social media users calling the man out for his stupidity.

One user wrote: "Darwinism." Another said: "About as sharp as a marble." A third added: "More natural selection going on there." Another commented: "That was so funny. Hope he survived the blast." A fifth replied: "I hope that they are alright, but this is incredibly reckless, selfish and downright dangerous. People messing about with fireworks really wind me up."
