Over the years, we've seen many successful turned into franchises, with fans flocking to the cinemas to watch the next instalments of their favourites.
Putting the speculation to an end, it's finally been revealed which horror movie sequels have been the most successful and they're not the ones you may think.
has carried out a data analysis from 350 plus horror movies from more than 70 horror franchises. The data points analysed were reported worldwide gross and return on investment, IMDb ratings score, Metacritic score and Rotten tomatoes score.
According to the results of the analysis, Evil Dead 2 (1987), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), Terrifier 2 (2022) and Terrifier 3 (2024) are the most successful horror continuations of all time.

Both the second and third instalments of the Terrifier franchise outperformed the first part which released in 2016.
Terrifier 3 has one of the highest upwards movements for its IMDb user ratings score, with the score getting higher with each film. The first film has a score of 5.6 out of 10, the second has been awarded a 6.1, while the most recent movie is currently on 6.7.
Both Evil Dead 2 and 10 Cloverfield Lane outperformed it's predecessors with return on investments, Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb scores.
Terrifier 3 released earlier this month on October 11, just in time for Halloween and for spooky season.
The movie's plot sees Sienna Shaw (portrayed by Lauren LaVera) strive to rebuild her life while Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) and his new sidekick Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) are hot on her trail.
The first film opened to a mixed reviews from critics who argued that there was a lack of plot and underdevelopment of the lead characters.
However, the second instalment became a box office success and received positive reviews from critics, who pointed out the marginale difference in the sequel.
Fans of the franchise will be pleased to know that a fourth film is in the works, as confirmed by director Damien Leone. However, it is intended to be the conclusion of the franchise, with the stories of Art the Clown, The Little Pale Girl, Victoria Heyes and Sienna Shaw being resolved.
