Wrexham's star striker Paul Mullin, has confessed that his "attachment" to now surpasses his childhood love for , following a magical three-year spell in Wales.

The forward's standout performances for the Red Dragons have earned him legendary status at the Racecourse Ground, particularly during the team's recent transformation. Signed during the early days of and Rob McElhenney's co-chairmanship, he has netted an impressive 108 goals in 151 appearances for Wrexham.

His crucial goals have been instrumental in securing back-to-back promotions for Phil Parkinson's squad over the past few seasons, propelling them into League One. This season, contributions have mainly been as a substitute as he recovers from a back injury that kept him out of action at the start of the season.

Nevertheless, he was on target for Wrexham with a first-minute winner against Rotherham in their latest league match. The triumph sees the Dragons sitting in second place in the third tier after 11 games, as they pursue a potential third consecutive promotion.

In a heartfelt chat with Sport, he confessed: "I used to watch Liverpool home and away and go all over the , but that would change if my career ended tomorrow."

"I'd be going to watch Wrexham everywhere. I absolutely love the place for everything it's given me and the support the fans have given me. I've been here long enough now; Wrexham's become part of me. I'm really attached to this club. So I always want to do well."

Discussing his journey back from surgery, the adored Wrexham figure shared the challenges of his recovery on the club's YouTube channel, revealing: "I've never had surgery before but I was told it wasn't easy and, me being me, naively thought, 'Nah, I'll do it quicker than I could' and I got back really quick in terms of being able to train, but it's never going to feel 100 percent for a long time.

"Strangely enough, this week was the time that I started to feel like myself again. We had a couple of days off last week, and for some reason, I came back, and all the aches and pains had gone. It was really pleasing."

Reflecting on his recent clash with Rotherham, he shared: "The last 20 minutes was pure adrenalin, with the fans lifting me, but I'm so pleased for it and hopefully it stands me in good stead heading forward.

You want to test yourself against the big sides and really enjoy it. These occasions are fantastic but it's something we expected to happen when we signed for Wrexham.

"I expected us to get promoted and back-to-back promotions. We demand a lot from ourselves as a group and we all set high standards."
