Ruben Amorim's 'different' choice of car speaks volumes about incoming Man Utd manager

Meanwhile, Labine has revealed that the 39-year-old prefers to steer away from fancy possessions. Recalling a conversation with the new United boss, he said: "I would joke with Ruben because he's driving the most unassuming Smart car, those little cube cars.

"I'm looking for the Maserati or the Bugatti or something. He goes: 'No Geoff, you don't understand. I'm different. I'm not like that.'"

It is not the first time that Amorim’s humble character has been hailed as he prepares to take the reins at Old Trafford. Miguel Godinho, president of Ginasio Clube de Corroios, the side where Amorim got his break at the age of 15, revealed that kind of character he was.

Meanwhile, Amorim has also underlined the type of person that he is having sympathised with Sporting Lisbon fans regarding his exit mid-season. He said: “In the next home game, whether we win or lose by 15-0, I'll be there to see what the fans want to give me. I understand their anger, but we move on and time heals everything. It was the best period of my life."

Amorin has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal with United. He will oversee his first match as the club’s new manager against Ipswich on November 24.
