Douglas Henshall, best known for his role as DI Jimmy Perez in the hit One drama Shetland, has kept fans guessing about his next move since leaving the show more than two years ago.
In a memorable final episode, his character made a noble sacrifice to help an innocent man, resigning from the police force and leaving Shetland with his new love Meg (played by Lucianne McEvoy) to start a new life elsewhere.
While the show continues to thrive under the leadership of Ashley Jensen's DI Ruth Calder, fans are eager to know what Henshall has been up to since his departure.
Douglas Henshall's career since leaving ShetlandAlmost a year after his time on Shetland came to an end, the Scottish actor starred in the thriller Who Is Erin Carter?, playing the wealthy Daniel Lang who develops a sinister interest in teacher Erin Collantes (portrayed by Evin Ahmad).
Henshall then took on a very different role in the BBC One drama Murder Is Easy, based on Agatha Christie's popular novel of the same name.

The 58-year-old actor, who shared the screen with David Jonsson, Morfydd Clark and Penelope Wilton, played Major Horton in the series.
His character is described as a "typical Englishman" of the 1950s who, despite initially appearing cold, shows interest in other places and people.
Following the success of this two-part drama, Henshall moved on to another mystery drama set in modern times.
Paramount+'s Icelandic thriller The Darkness has seen him take on the role of Petur.
The show's description teases: "A dedicated investigator, she is being forced into early retirement and takes on a final cold case centred on a young Russian asylum seeker who died mysteriously one year prior".
Henshall's IMDb suggests he is keeping busy, with another project titled One Of Us nearing completion in post-production.
The Shetland star is poised to feature in this horror series, where "members of a family begin dying one by one at a funeral, while Youngest searches for the stranger in their midst."
The upcoming mystery series is filled with well-known actors including Kit Connor of Heartstopper fame, Love Actually's Sienna Guillory, Catch Me If You Can's Charlotte Hope, and The Durrells' Callum Woodhouse.
The release date for One Of Us has yet to be announced.
