Strictly fans left stitches over Anton du Beke costume as he's compared to Corrie icon

Anton du Beke left fans laughing as he appeared on the latest episode of wearing an outlandish outfit.

turned judge threw himself into the spirit of the 'Icons' theme of the seventh week of the 2024 season. Appearing on screen on Saturday night, Anton sported a striking long-blonde wig and a loud animal print suit as he transformed into music legend but fans think he looked more like a legend.

The other judges also channelled heroes from pop culture - with Motsi Mabuse transforming into Tina Turner, Craig Revel Horwood channelling his inner Barry Gibb, and head judge wowing as Cher. But TV fans all focused their attention on Anton - with many not quite understanding his outfit choice.

Taking to social media, many viewers brutally mocked the dance professional over his his. On X, one fan wrote: "Anton serving Bet Lynch. #Corrie #Strictly." Another typed: "How Anton thinks he looks vs how Anton actually looks #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." And another fan joked: "Why is Anton dressed as Charlie Mullins the Pimlico plumber?"

The teasing didn't stop there, as another viewer wrote: "Anton looks more like Nigel Tufnell than Rod #Strictly". And another fan observed: "Anton is Rod Stewart…..I thought he was Charlie Mullins from Pimlico plumbers…. #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

The 2024 season of Strictly Come Dancing is nearing the halfway point - although roughly six weeks remain before the grand finale. Stars still fighting for the Glitterball Trophy include star and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, Olympian-turned-Gladiator Montell Douglas and her dance partner Johannes Radebe, Opera singer Wynne Evans and his dance partner Katya Jones, and model and dancer partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

JLS star JB Gill and his dance partner Lauren Oakley - who stepped into Amy Dowden's shoes as she has been dealing with a health issue - performed their couple's choice on Saturday night, attracting warm comments from the judges. While actress Sarah Hadland and her dance partner Vito Coppola took to the floor to show off their Cha-cha-cha.

Blind comedian Chris McCausland performed the Tango with his dance partner Dianne Buswell, and Olympic star Sam Quek glided across the ballroom floor to perform her American Smooth with dance partner . Remaining couples Shayne Ward, of fame, and his dance partner Nancy Xu, and Towie Lothario and his dance partner Jowita Przystał, performed a Quickstep and Salsa respectively.

The contestants also dressed up for Icons week, with Chris and Dianne channelling the rock band Kiss for their routine. Discussing what makes a star an icon, Chris said: "Somebody that's been the forefront of something and managed to maintain that, like Alice Cooper. He's been the forefront of rock music since the 60s."
