, Maresca was once again asked about his thoughts on keeping Sancho. Chelsea have an obligation to sign the England international for £25million after finishing higher than 14th in the Premier League but can also pull out of the deal with a £5m penalty.

Maresca confirmed, pre-Betis, that talks over Sancho's future will commence 24-48 hours after the final. Speaking after the game, he said: "It's not the moment we have tomorrow, final. Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we're going to start to talk about the future."

After the game, BBC Sport went viral for joking that Sancho was on the phone to Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim telling him he 'wasn't returning to Old Trafford'.

A number of fans did not understand the joke, and were left confused by the post in the BBC's match blog.

But it has now emerged exactly what Sancho said in the immediate aftermath of the result.

The Conference League official X page posted a video of Sancho, who recorded himself with his medal. After posing with goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, he said: "Obviously, final, 2025. Vamos! Champions!"
