Now, passengers will no longer need to go to the counter to buy tickets; instead, the ticket will be delivered to them. Under a plan by the Northern Railway Lucknow Division, railway employees will roam the station platforms selling tickets.
During festive seasons like Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, railway stations witness heavy crowds, especially long queues at unreserved ticket counters. In such a situation, Northern Railway has launched a new initiative that brings significant relief to passengers. Now, passengers will no longer need to rush to the counter to get a ticket; instead, the ticket will be delivered to them. Under a new plan by the Northern Railway Lucknow Division, railway employees will roam the station platforms selling tickets, much like hawkers do. This new system has been named M-UTS. This system is being implemented to control crowds during festivals and provide better convenience to passengers. So let's find out what the new railway ticketing system is.
What is the new railway ticketing system?
The railway's new ticketing system, M-UTS, is a mobile ticketing machine, similar to the ticket machines used on road buses. This machine is lightweight and requires no wires. This means railway employees can carry it around the platform and issue tickets for passengers while standing there. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets from this machine. This will be especially beneficial for passengers who need to travel quickly and avoid the crowds at the counters.
Where will the facility be available?
The railway has decided to implement M-UTS in the first phase at four major stations: Charbagh Railway Station, Ayodhya Railway Station, Varanasi Railway Station, and Prayagraj Junction. Railway employees will roam the platforms at these stations and issue tickets to passengers. To do this, 10 M-UTS machines will be provided at Charbagh, Ayodhya, and Varanasi, while 5 machines will be provided at Prayagraj Junction. This means a total of 35 machines will be installed.
This way, uniformed railway personnel will approach you to collect tickets. They will be carrying an M-UTS machine. You will tell them your destination, and they will print the ticket from the machine and hand it to you. Payment options will be available via cash and UPI.
