New Delhi: Cyprus can be India's shipping industry partner in the Mediterranean region and is ready to participate in IMEEC projects considering its strategic location, Cyrus foreign minister Constantinos Kombos, currently on a visit to India, told ET.   
   
"Cyprus has a robust and dynamic shipping industry with one of the largest fleets in the world, hosting hundreds of shipping companies. It contributes over 7% to Cyprus' GDP. Cyprus' 'One Stop Shipping Centre' provides quality services to shipping companies... The comparative advantages of the Cyprus shipping sector complemented by Cyprus' geostrategic location and emerging opportunities in the energy sector are significant growth drivers, attracting the attention of global stakeholders including from India," Kombos informed.
     
Referring to IMEEC ( India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor), Kombos said, "Cyprus attaches great importance to IMEEC projects, which offers significant prospects... Cyprus expresses its readiness to participate in IMEEC projects."
