K. Kavitha on Wednesday tendered in her resignation from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and stepped down as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), barely a day after the party suspended her for alleged anti-party activities.
The former BRS supremo said that she has no plans to join another political party for the time being.
"I m not joining any party. Future course of action to be decided after discussions with supporters," said Kavitha, after announcing her exit.
The move capped a dramatic escalation in her confrontation with the party leadership, in which she accused her cousins of corruption and her brother of abandoning her in the face of attacks.
Addressing reporters in Hyderabad, Kavitha said her father and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was facing a CBI probe because of “the corruption of my cousins Harish Rao and Santosh Rao.”

Further, she cautioned her brother and working president K.T. Rama Rao not to rely on them. “Suspended BRS leader Kavitha sharpens attack against cousins Harish Rao, Santosh, tells brother Rama Rao they are not well-wishers,” she said.
Kavitha also expressed her disappointment with Rama Rao directly.
“Ever since my release from Tihar jail, I have been fighting for various causes. My own brother Rama Rao did not stand by me when a malicious campaign was unleashed against me,” she told reporters in Hyderabad.

Kavitha's resignation followed Tuesday’s announcement from the party, which suspended her citing “recent behavior and ongoing anti-party activities” that it said were damaging its interests.
The decision, taken by KCR, was made public through a Telangana Bhavan statement signed by Chief Secretary T. Ravinder Rao on behalf of the party’s disciplinary committee. No further details were provided on the incidents that triggered the action.
Who is K Kavitha?
Kavitha, now a former MLC and daughter of KCR, had been a prominent face of the party but her ties with the leadership have steadily frayed.
Earlier this year, she alleged that while she was in prison in Delhi over the liquor policy money laundering case, she was approached with a proposal to merge the BRS with the BJP—an idea she rejected, saying the party “carries the spirit of Telangana” and should never be merged with a national outfit.
Her repeated criticism of silence from party leaders during her incarceration and public targeting reflected widening rifts within the BRS, especially with Rama Rao. She has also accused some leaders of working against her political future, citing her defeat in the 2019 Nizamabad Lok Sabha election.
