Maruti Suzuki starts eVITARA exports, ships 2,900 units to 12 European countries

Maruti Suzuki commenced the exports of eVITARA, Suzuki’s first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in August. The company shipped over 2,900 units of the new model from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to 12 European countries.

United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium are set to receive ' Made in India' models of eVITARA.

A preview of the eVITARA was done earlier in Milan, Italy, and at Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi, India.

On August 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged the production of e VITARA at the company's manufacturing facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat. He hailed Maruti Suzuki as a brand ambassador of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

"The start of export of eVITARA to Europe is indeed a proud and defining moment for us. To delight customers in over 100 countries, the product has to be truly world class in terms of technology, design, safety and performance," Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said.

The company plans to export the model to over 100 countries and will be sold in the domestic market.

Built on an all-new electric vehicle (EV) platform, HEARTECT-e, the eVITARA features a design that combines a sense of advanced technology and strength, he said adding that the company is sure that it will "delight customers in Europe."

The eVITARA is exclusively manufactured at the manufacturing facility of India's largest carmaker.
