Thar terror in Noida: Instagram spat turns ugly as "local mafia" rams SUV into man; Brutal attack sparks outrage after video goes viral

Send Push
A fight that started on social media turned into a brutal street attack in Noida’s Sector 53 on Monday. Two brothers, Saurabh Yadav and Sumit Yadav, were assaulted by a group of men who dragged them out of their car, beat them up badly, and even tried to run one of them over with an SUV.

What happened?
Saurabh and his younger brother were on their way to Logix Mall in Sector 34 when they were stopped by a convoy of 4–5 cars. The attackers blocked their Fortuner SUV and pulled the brothers out.

In his complaint, Saurabh named Akash Awana, Aman Awana, Gaurav Chauhan, and Kunal Chauhan as the attackers. He claimed that the group runs a travel business as a cover but are involved in illegal activities, calling themselves the "local mafia".

Saurabh, who lives in Sector 48, had recently started a factory after leaving his private university in Sector 125.

Old feud and Instagram comment triggered attack

Police said the rivalry goes back to a financial dispute from 2017 and a recent Instagram comment that made things worse. Saurabh mentioned that the attackers had earlier misbehaved with a friend and his girlfriend, and recognised him instantly when they spotted him on the road.

He added that the attackers had bricks and blades ready in their cars, suggesting that the attack was pre-planned.

Horrifying videos go viral

Several disturbing videos from the scene were shared on social media. In one, Saurabh, covered in blood, is seen trying to dodge bricks being thrown at him while bystanders watch. Another shows the attackers kicking and punching one of the brothers on the ground.

At one point, a Thar SUV allegedly tried to run Saurabh over, pushing him into a nearby drain.

Police action

Saurabh claimed in a video that although he and his brother suffered serious injuries, no strong action had been taken yet. However, Additional DCP Sumit Shukla said a case has been registered at Sector 24 police station and a special team is now working to arrest the accused using the viral videos as evidence.
