'Following the US strikes on Iran, António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, on Sunday said that there is no military solution, the only path forward is ' diplomacy'.
Early on Sunday, US President Donald Trump declared that US forces had “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan via a coordinated strike with Israel.
"I am gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran today," said UN Secretary General.
He called the attacks by US as 'a direct threat to international peace and security'.
Highlighting the risk that this conflict could catastrophically get out of control, Guterres said that this conflict could rapidly get out of control – with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world.
The global watchdog called on the member states to de-escalate and to uphold their obligations under the UN Charter and other rules of international law.
