First Day of Chhath Puja: Nahai-Khaai Muhurta
According to the Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month is from 01:19 AM today, October 25. This date extends until 03:48 AM on October 26. Therefore, based on the Udayatithi, Kartik Shukla Chaturthi Tithi is today. Therefore, Nahai-Khaai is today.
Today, Shobhan Yoga is from 05:55 AM to 03:48 AM tomorrow, October 26. Ravi Yoga is from 7:51 AM to 6:29 AM tomorrow. Anuradha Nakshatra is from 7:51 AM to 7:51 AM, followed by Jyeshtha Nakshatra. The auspicious time for Nahay-Khaay, i.e., Abhijit Muhurta, is from 11:42 AM to 12:27 PM.
Nahay-Khaay Method
After bathing this morning, wear clean clothes. The Ganga River is best for bathing. Otherwise, mix Ganga water with water and take a bath.
Perform puja and clean the house. Complete your daily rituals.
Vraters eat rice, bottle gourd vegetable, and gram dal. Rock salt is used in this dish. This is the only food consumed today. This meal is to be consumed once a day. Kharna is the next day.
Nahay-Khaay is considered a symbol of preparing oneself for the arduous 36-hour Chhath fast.
Satvik items are used during Nahay-Khaay.
The fasting person must lead a satvik life and follow the rules of celibacy.
Consumption of tamasic items such as alcohol, meat, betel leaves, tobacco, etc., is prohibited.
Kharna on October 26
Kharna is the second day of Chhath Puja. The fast begins on Kharna. At night, jaggery kheer is eaten, followed by a 36-hour fast. Prasad is prepared for Chhathi Puja on Kharna.
Arghya on October 27-28
On October 27, after the evening puja, arghya is offered to the setting sun. On October 28, arghya will be offered to the rising sun in the morning. Parana will then be performed.
