Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Daily traffic congestion at 10 key intersections in new city area has prompted the traffic police to submit a detailed report recommending urgent infrastructure upgrades.
Despite worsening traffic conditions, no action has yet been taken to install traffic signals or redesign rotaries at these critical points. According to the survey conducted by traffic police, traffic remains choked almost daily during peak hours from 10 AM to 12 PM and 4:30 PM to 8 PM, particularly along the Bawadiya Kalan–Banskhedi stretch.
The report, presented to Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, outlines the need for traffic signal installations, rotary resizing and clearing obstructed left turns at major choke points.
A joint field survey involving Public Works Department (PWD), Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and traffic police was carried out under district administration supervision. While PWD has assured cooperation, BMC, responsible for installing signals via the Smart City Fund, has not yet responded with action.
