Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The voices of starting the heritage train, which runs Patalpani-Kalakund route, from Indore is growing with BJP leader Shailendra Mahajan joining the bandwagon.
“Instead of starting it from Patalpani, the heritage train should run directly from Indore. This will make it far more convenient for tourists to board in Indore and enjoy the scenic monsoon journey without additional travel hassles,” he said.

Mahajan raised the issue pointing out that rivers and waterfalls across the state are now in full flow, thanks to the on-schedule monsoon, offering lush green landscapes ideal for tourism. However, no initiative has been taken so far by Western Railways officials to restart the historic heritage service.

Tourists from across the state and country come to enjoy scenic views of rivers, waterfalls, green hills, the famous Patalpani waterfall, valley bridges and tunnels, while also savoring local delicacies such as the famous Kalakund kalakand sweet.
Last time, the heritage train operated over a 10-kilometer stretch between Patalpani and Kalakund. However, travellers had to make an additional 35-kilometer journey from Indore just to board the train.
