Giridh: A man had a close shave after his truck fell into a river in Jharkhand's Giridh on Tuesday. The truck reportedly crashed through a bridge safety railing as the driver lost control. The incident took place at around 1 am on Tuesday.
Aqeel Nawaz Khana was driving a tanker loaded with pipes from the Godda district, reported NDTV. Suddenly, the truck changed its direction and plunged into the Barakar River almost 40 feet below.

However, Khana managed to come out of the driver's seat. After climbing onto the tyres of the truck, he shouted for help. As per the NDTV report, a person present on the river bank heard Khana's voice. Due to the darkness, the person flashed his torchlight and flashed his torchlight. The driver also flashed his torchlight while coming out of his seat.

Khana was then rescued after four hours from the river. While interacting with reports, the driver said that the incident took place as the tyre of the truck slipped. Khana reportedly sustained minor injuries.
"It was difficult to rescue him due to the strong currents of the river. We called the lifeguards after trying for two hours," a senior police officer said as reported by NDTV.
Locals also gathered at the spot and recorded the incident on camera.
Ealier in March this year, a similar incident took place in Maharashtra's Palghar, when a tanker fell off a bridge, killing its driver, Ashish Kumar Yadav (29). The tanker, which was carrying base oils, was travelling on the Mumbai-Gujarat route when it veered off the bridge and landed on the service road near Manor Junction, as per reports.
