Mumbai Weather Update: Light To Moderate Rainfall Continues; IMD Predicts Below-Normal Rain In August, Surge In September

Mumbai: Mumbai and it's metropolitan region received light to moderate rains with thundershowers at isolated places from Wednesday night, which continued on Thursday as well. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a warning for an increase in thunderstorm activity in Maharashtra from Tuesday, August 5 to Saturday, August 9.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert Across Maharashtra Except Mumbai, Thane, Palghar

Almost all the districts in Maharashtra are placed under Yellow Alert for the next couple of days, however no alerts are issued for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar.

IMD Forecast: Cloudy Skies, Light to Moderate Rains for Next 48 Hours

As per the local weather forecast for the next 48 hours, the skies generally cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/thundershowers in Mumbai city and suburbs. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 30 deg. C. and 26 deg. C.

Top Rainfall Spots: Sewri (46mm), Madh (45mm), Chembur (44mm)

In last period of 24 hours (Wednesday 9 pm to Thursday 9 pm), the areas in Mumbai which received highest rainfall include: Sewri (46 mm), Madh (45 mm), Chembur (44 mm), Santacruz (37 mm), Bandra (34 mm), Ghatkopar (35 mm) and others.

August May See Below-Normal Rain, IMD Expects Revival in September

The IMDтАЩs outlook for the second half of the southwest monsoon (August-September) indicates that Mumbai and Maharashtra are expected to receive below-normal to normal rainfall in August, with a revival of above-normal rainfall anticipated in September. For the overall monsoon 2025, the weather department has already forecasted above-average rainfall.
