Corporator Bharat Jadhav has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Journalist Bhavan located on Plot No. 215 in Seawoods Sector 28, calling for its immediate transfer to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) for proper maintenance and use.
In a formal letter addressed to the Deputy Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, Jadhav highlighted that the building, the structure has become unsafe and poses a risk to visitors, including women, senior citizens, and working professionals. He stressed that a lack of ownership and upkeep has led to the premises falling into disrepair.
"The building has not been officially handed over to your department for years. It has now reached a dangerously dilapidated state, and if an accident occurs, we will be held accountable," stated Jadhav in his letter.
Citing safety concerns and the public interest, the Navi Mumbai Patrakar Sangh has also submitted a request to NMMC seeking the transfer of the building. Jadhav reinforced their appeal and requested urgent action to facilitate the handover, ensuring that the premises are secured, maintained, and utilized appropriately.
Photographs showing the current state of the building were also submitted along with the letter. Copies of the appeal were forwarded to the NMMC Commissioner and Executive Engineer for further consideration.
Jadhav urged the administration to take immediate action to prevent any unfortunate incidents and to preserve a crucial community asset that supports the city's press and public.
