New Dawn For Mahadevi: Vantara's Vision Of Compassionate Elephant Care At Kolhapur

Send Push

Displaying truly compassionate and collaborative initiatives, Anant Ambani's Vantara initiative has come up with a pioneering solution that aims at balancing public sentiments, Matha's leadership, and animal welfare in the case of temple elephant Mahadevi (also called Madhuri).

Understanding the deep emotional attachment the city of Kolhapur and the Jain Matha have for Mahadevi while also looking at her grave medical condition, Vantara proposes the establishment of a satellite rehabilitation centre in the Nandani area of Kolhapur; a never-before proposal of its kind in India.

This very centre is a reflection of Vantara's respect for care, scientifically aided rehabilitation, and tradition. The development of this centre will be undertaken under the guidance of Jain Matha and State Government with consultation from the High-Powered Committee and in accordance with international standards of elephant care.

Thus, Anant Ambani's Vantara is setting a benchmark in establishing how emotional sensibility, scientific care, and collaborative governance can co-exist to bring about permanent and compassionate solutions in wildlife welfare. This rare and respectful solution safeguards the health and well-being of Mahadevi while ensuring that she continues to have a loving community close to her.

The site for the said rehabilitation centre shall be jointly decided by Vantara, Jain Matha, and the Government of Maharashtra. Upon receipt of approvals and access to land, the team from Vantara, comprising specialists, will immediately begin work in association with the key stakeholders.
