Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company has directly transferred Rs 135 crore in subsidies to the bank accounts of eligible consumers under Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme) across Western Madhya Pradesh.
Under the scheme, eligible households are receiving subsidies of up to Rs 78,000 to install rooftop solar power systems. These subsidies are disbursed through direct benefit transfer (DBT) and the process is ongoing.
According to West Discom managing director Anup Kumar Singh 19,000 consumers have already installed solar systems under the PM Suryaghar scheme. With the inclusion of installations outside the scheme, the total number of rooftop solar plants in the Malwa-Nimar region has now reached 35,800—more than double the earlier count.
