Listed geotech giant MapmyIndia has signed an agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to integrate the latter’s real-time data into its navigation platform Mappls.
Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Mappls will integrate DMRC’s API within the app. With this, its 3.5 Cr users will be able to access real-time data such as routes, fares, and train frequencies on the app.
In a statement, Mappls said that the integration will help the general public locate nearby government services, check “optimised” routes with estimated travel times, and report civic and traffic issues such as congestion, accidents, parking challenges or waterlogging. The company said it will then share these inputs directly with the relevant authorities.
This comes weeks after railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Indian Railways would soon sign a pact with the geotech company’s app Mappls.
Founded in 1995, MapmyIndia provides geospatial data and analysis support to nearly 10 government departments, including DIGIPIN, police forces across the country as well as tax agencies.
The company has been aggressively taking steps over the past year or so to expand its offerings. In January this year, it acquired a 9.37% stake in AI-powered simulation startup SimDaaS Autonomy for about INR 3 Cr. In the same month, it also partnered with Bengaluru-based KOGO AI to launch a “universal” voice assistant for the automotive industry.
In August, MapmyIndia also announced an investment of INR 25 Cr in quick commerce unicorn Zepto to fuel the adoption of its services in the rapidly growing quick commerce space.
On the financial front, the geotech major’s net profit rose 28% to INR 45.8 Cr in Q1 FY26 from INR 35.9 Cr in the year-ago quarter. Operating revenue rose 20% to INR 121.6 Cr during the quarter under review from INR 101.5 Cr in Q1 FY25.
