Bernardo Silva hits out at VAR after Man City's FA Cup final defeat - 'No excuse!'

Bernardo Silva said there is "no excuse" for the VAR travesty that saw goalkeeper Dean Henderson escape a red card in the final.

Henderson was lucky not to be sent off when he handled the ball outside the box, to deny ’s what looked like a clear goalscoring opportunity.

But Henderson received a let-off after a lengthy VAR review, despite images of the incident clearly showing the England keeper handling the ball outside of his area.

City midfielder Silva said: "You play in the best league in the , teams work a lot to arrive at these stages and to perform.

"If we lose, it should be - for us or any team - because we don't perform well. It shouldn't be like this. When you have , there's just no excuse for the mistakes that happen.

"We're a bit too used to these kinds of situations. I've watched it now and I think it's a big mistake, because playing 60 minutes with one more player can make a difference.

"We can obviously do much better than what we did, but it's a clear mistake again and it's had an impact on the game.

"I don't like to make excuses at the end of games that we lose. I want to give credit to this Palace team, because they're a very good side. They deserved it, they ran like crazy.

"We could see that it was a really important game for their fans, for their players, so I don't want to mix things up.

"But when you have the technology and you still make these mistakes, not only in this game but in a lot of games that we see throughout the season, it just can't happen."
