Bukayo Saka slammed for snubbing Sky F1 grid walk interview at Spanish GP

Bukayo Saka refused an interview on the grid, despite England team-mates and Dan Burn happily speaking to the broadcast. Pundit commented that the star was "not very friendly" after the snub.

Moment earlier, England captain Kane had happily stopped to speak with Simon Lazenby and Rosberg during the traditional race grid walk. They were filling in for , the usual host of the segment, who is not in this weekend.

While guests on the grid are not forced to speak to broadcasters, it is generally expected that they offer a few words if approached. But , there along with his England team-mates ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Andorra, clearly didn't get that memo.

"Bukayo, can we have a quick word? We're live on Sky at the moment," Lazenby said as he approached the Arsenal footballer. But Saka just glanced at the camera before he looked away, shaking his head and telling the Sky presenter: "Not much to say."

"We'll move on, then," replied Lazenby with a small laugh. And colleague Rosberg was quick to comment: "That was not very friendly," – a sentiment shared by people on social media as they reacted to what they had just witnessed.

"Nico Rosberg shading for not talking on the F1 grid was not on my 2025 bingo card," wrote one. Another said: "Bukayo Saka winning no fans by refusing to be interviewed whilst on the F1 grid." And a third said: "And that should be the last time Bukayo Saka gets invited to the F1 grid."

Sky were at least able to get some words out of Kane moments before. As Lazenby approached the gaggle of England stars on the grid, the captain stepped forward and said: "I'm good, I'm hot. First [time at an F1 race], I'm looking forward to it, I watch the F1 as much as I can, a few of the English guys are doing well this season, so I'm looking forward to seeing them."

Asked who he is cheering on, the striker added: "Lando [Norris]! I mean, he's been doing great this year and obviously he's got a great chance to win the championship, so I hope he can get himself in front today and of course George [Russell] and Lewis [Hamilton], it'd be good to see them all on the podium."

Norris was starting second on the grid, behind only team-mate . It was the first time had locked out the front row at the Spanish Grand Prix ion 27 years, since and Brit at the 1998 edition of the race.

Russell had to settle for fourth on the grid despite setting the exact same time as in qualifying, because the Dutchman got his lap in first. Hamilton started one place further back in fifth in his .
