A pregnant woman and her unborn child have both been killed after they were hit by an unmarked car in London.
The horrific tragedy unfolded on the A20 in Eltham at about 6:15pm on Thursday evening, with the police vehicle into a car belonging to a member of the public.
Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance all raced to the scene, but a 38-year-old woman who was in the car tragically died. She was heavily at the time and her baby did not survive, the Met Police said.
The woman's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. An investigation into the tragedy has now been launched.

Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, in charge of policing in Greenwich, said: "My heart goes out to the woman’s family and friends who have lost their loved ones in these tragic circumstances.
"An investigation into the circumstances of this collision is under way by the Independent Office for Police Conduct and we will assist with their enquiries in any way we can.
"A road closure will remain at the scene today and I am grateful for the patience of the local motorists, who will need to use alternative routes."
Two officers who were in the unmarked car were also taken to hospital after the crash and have since been discharged.
