The “manifesto” of an alleged crossbow attacker who maimed two women has been revealed, as he targeted “students, pub crawlers and humanity”. Owen Lawrence, 38, was the "key suspect" after the attack on Saturday when police rushed to Headingley, Leeds, and found three people with injuries, two of which were women aged 19 and 31.
The pair were rushed to hospital and the third injured person was the suspected attacker, later named as Lawrence, who died from a self-inflicted injury on Tuesday. Now his apparent manifesto has been revealed for his attack on the popular Otley Run pub crawl, in which participants wear fancy dress and attempt the 17 to 19 venue pub crawl.
Headlining a Facebook post the "Otley Run Massacre", he spoke of his intention to target "students, night club goers, pub crawler's, Otley Run participants, society, humanity, human race, neurotypicals and police, if I need to."
He added: "Political Views: Reactionary, with some small 'I', libertarian sympathies. I have also explored Far Right ideas, by reading through Brenton Tarrent's 74 page manifesto titled - The Great Replacement.
"Weapons - crossbow, break barrel air gun, sig sauer, rattler C02 Gun, powerline Daiay 415 steel BB Gun, combat Gloves , Brooklyn basher (unbreakable baseball bat), blank firer gun, with modified ammo."
He described his "attack type" was "spree killing, mass murder, terrorism, revenge, misogynyic rage and homicide/suicide."
Police believe Owen Lawrence was acting alone and say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the Leeds attack. His Facebook accounts are being examined as the investigation into what happened continues.
One victim was discharged from hospital over the weekend while the second was said to be in a stable condition on Sunday after undergoing surgery for life-threatening injuries. A neighbour told MailOnline: "I am just sad about it. I am sad about the people who got injured and I am sad about him and for his family.
"I cannot believe he put all this stuff on Facebook. He had the mind of a child. He did not even know how to turn the central heating on. I never heard him speak of hating women."
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: "We can confirm that the 38-year-old man who was arrested and taken to hospital on Saturday with a self-inflicted injury, has died.
"This man was the key suspect and we can name him as Owen Lawrence from Headingley, Leeds. We believe he was acting on his own and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with this matter.
"Counter Terrorism Policing North East will continue to conduct a thorough and extensive investigation to establish the facts and circumstances around the incident. A file will be compiled and passed to the coroner."
Counter terrorism police took over the investigation, confirming that a crossbow and a firearm were removed from the scene. Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerly, said: "Officers will continue to conduct enquiries and we ask that if anyone has information that may assist, to pass this to police.
"We understand there are concerns around the incident, and questions about how and why this happened. Our teams are committed to carrying out an in-depth investigation to provide answers to those affected.
"We continue to work closely with West Yorkshire Police to support the local community and thank residents for their support and understanding over the weekend. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this incident."
