Liam Payne all smiles as star seen in his final TV project filmed before his tragic death

Liam Payne appears in a trailer for his final project, filmed before his sad death. The One Direction star died last year, but before he passed, he had filmed for a new Netflix show Building The Band.

The One Direction star appears in the new show, which premieres on Netflix in just a few days' time. The programme is hosted by AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys. Nicole Scherzinger from The Pussycat Dolls is a mentor for the contestants whilst Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland and late Liam appear as guest judges throughout the series.

In the trailer, Liam discusses the competition and how unusual it is. In the show, 50 singers will form six different bands without ever seeing each other. He tells them: "How these bands were put together isn't normal. We weren't put together that way."

Liam had filmed his scenes for the talent show in Manchester over the summer before his sad death that October. However, when Liam died, bosses were keen to get his family's approval before it aired.

A source told The Sun: "Netflix and the production company will meet Liam’s family to make sure they are happy with Building the Band airing in 2025. Nothing will be finalised until they have given their blessing. Those who worked on it say it captures Liam in a beautiful light and highlights his passion for helping others. It is the last thing he worked on and he comes across so well."

Another insider had previously insisted that the new show would "honour" Liam's legacy.

"Even though Liam had filmed a substantial amount of material for the show, the decision was made shortly after his passing to continue the project, honour his legacy and amazing story as a One Direction member and bring this series to audiences. They're back to filming, and Netflix is not going to hide Liam's contribution to this project," they said.

The show's synopsis is as follows: "What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play? With incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal — to find the next great music band — the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.

"It is a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry. The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual 'booths' without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit."
