Lily Phillips isn't one to shy away from controversy and that became even more apparent as she let Stacey Dooley into her life for a brand new documentary about her fame, money and controversial career choice.
Adult content creator Lily decided to drop out of university after a few months and signed up to website OnlyFans, where she made a four figure sum in just 24 hours. Her being the focus of the first episode of a new series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over comes just weeks after fellow adult content creator Bonnie Blue was the subject of a controversial Channel 4 documentary.
I was expecting the show about Lily to feature a lot of sex and intimate scenes and whilst nothing explicit was ever shown in its entirety, the comments from the men on her chats and the 20 men who had arrived for her 'live event' had me feeling sick.

One man even admitted to using his mum's credit card to pay for her subscription site after she personally invited him to the event on his lunch break at work whilst another man made an explicit request to Stacey as she stood outside the room it was all happening in. I'm sure these scenes were kept in to shock and horrify viewers - and that they definitely did.
What I wasn't expecting whilst watching this was to feel bad for Lily. However, to see the young girl behind the persona she portrays to her 33,000 subscribers crying and vulnerable, that was hard to see.
At one point, a vulnerable Lily had to step out of the room after speaking to her mum and dad about their feelings towards what she did. Getting teary, Lily turned away from the camera to wipe her eyes and refused to look or talk to anyone until she had cleared them away. Her dad explained how he'd get calls telling him his daughter should die and her mum questioned whether they raised her wrong. To see her parents struggle with the emotional weight of what she's taken on, it was truly heartbreaking.

Whilst Lily's documentary showed more of the ups and downs that the content creator goes through - let's be honest, the Bonnie Blue documentary appeared to glorify what she did rather than question any of it - the show did not do enough to show young men and women that this is not what they should expect from their partners or even from casual sex.
Lily was happy to let the 20 men at the event do what they wanted for their own gratification with only two 'security' nearby to protect her own safety. A horrified Stacey couldn't watch and neither could I.
I think Stacey summed it up when she said she didn't think the image Lily was trying to put forward was the real woman underneath. "She doesn't think everything is as good as she makes it seem," Stacey said.
The security might be protecting her from harm during the 'live event' but who's protecting the vulnerable woman underneath?
