Marcus Rashford has crunch talks scheduled with Manchester United’s hierarchy this week. The England forward’s representatives want to know the precise financial terms United will accept for his departure - whether on loan or a permanent transfer.
Rashford, 27, feels he is in limbo, after being told he is not in manager Ruben Amorim’s plans and his £375k-a-week wage being a major stumbling block to a move.
It is understood that Rashford, who has three years remaining on his Old Trafford contract, is prepared to compromise on the terms of a pay-off, to help facilitate a move. But a loan looks the most-likely outcome with Barcelona keen - a move which would suit Rashford.
He made a temporary transfer to Aston Villa last season, but they can’t afford to make that a permanent move this summer and there is no concrete offer on the table from anyone at the moment.
Rashford is training at United’s Carrington HQ, but is not involved with the first-team squad and his No. 10 shirt has been given to new-signing Matheus Cunha.

A United insider said: “There is a bit of an uneasy truce at the moment, with Marcus working on his fitness at Carrington, but he wants to know how this impasse can be broken. This will be a big meeting.”
United are also trying to move on Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof have already left the club after their contracts expired, while Jonny Evans has retired and taken up a new role as the head of loans and pathways.
United are hoping to sign Bryan Mbeumo, but have seen several bids for him rejected by Brentford and their director of football Phil Giles has hinted that the forward could end up staying.
"He had a fantastic season," Giles told BBC Sport said last month. "We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does – he is well within his rights to do that.
"We are in constant dialogue with him and representatives about that. As it stands at the minute we don't have an agreement in place for him to leave. It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay.
"It has to be the right deal for Brentford, any club will tell you that. If it's not right deal why would we do it? He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There's no harm in keeping your best players."
