Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has urged the current squad to avoid passing to keeper Andre Onana. The 29-year-old has struggled since making a £47.5million move from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023.
This season for the Cameroonian, who has kept just 10 clean sheets in 44 games. He has conceded a staggering 60 goals in all competitions and for last Sunday's hammering at .
Onana was restored to the starting line-up for Thursday's quarter-final second leg against Lyon. But having been at fault for both of the French side's goals in the first leg, .
United eventually scraped through thanks to a last-gasp winner from . The Red Devils went a goal up on the night, with Onana mocking the Lyon fans in celebration.
Despite Thursday's win, the keeper's future at United beyond this season remains in huge doubt. And in a damning assessment, Scholes urged Onana's team-mates to avoid getting him involved in play.

Assessing the Red Devils’ hopes of beating Lyon before the match, Scholes told TNT Sports: “Keep the ball away from him. Honestly, don’t even pass it back to him… get the ball up to (Rasmus) Hojlund.”
While he publicly declared that Onana remains his first-choice, United boss Ruben Amorim has hinted that he will be looking for a new keeper in this summer's transfer window.
"We need to improve. We cannot look to the team of and say, ‘we are in this position in the league, we have been really under-performing this season’ and you cannot change all the players," he said on Wednesday.

"What you should do, is to improve any position on the team with the players that we have, and try to bring different characteristics for the next year. My answer is we need to improve every position on the field. Goalkeeper is the same.
"We can work with Andre, if our team scores more goals and is more dangerous on the forwards and the strikers, we will defend better, Onana will defend better. Andre Onana already proved that he’s a top player in Inter.
"So he has the past, Altay the same thing in Fenerbahce. Sometimes you have some seasons where we are underperforming. If we are going that if any player is underperforming you have to change everything, that is not the process that we need now."
"No, what I’m saying is we are going to make that evaluation for any position in the squad. If we are talking about mistakes, you can see my record.
"My record is the worst one in our team. I’m also under-performing, and I think I’m the right guy to coach the team so I think the same way for Andre."
