Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently launched the Annual Fastag Pass. The price of this pass has been kept at Rs 3000, which will be valid for 1 year or 200 highway trips. The government is going to issue the Annual Fastag Pass on August 15, 2025. People buying this pass will no longer need to pay at every toll plaza. The purpose of the annual pass is to make the journey convenient by reducing congestion on the highway, as well as reducing the expenses of vehicle owners on tolls. However, many terms and conditions related to this new toll system have been implemented which you need to know.
What are the benefits of the Rs 3,000 pass?
In the Rs 3000 annual pass of Fastag, you are being given the benefit of 200 highway trips. This is an annual pass that will come with a validity of one year. If you complete 200 trips before the completion of one year, then this pass will expire. After which you will have to recharge it again to continue the service.
What does 200 trips mean?
Now let us explain in detail about the annual pass of Fastag, about which people are most confused. As we told you earlier the annual Fastag will apply only to 200. People are confused as to what are these 200 trips and how is the government counting them.
Let us tell you that do not make the mistake of considering a trip as the place from where you start the journey and where you stop at the end, it is being considered as one trip. According to the government, here a trip means passing a toll plaza. That is, if you pass through 5 tolls during the journey, then it will be considered as 5 trips. Similarly, if you cross 5 tolls again while returning, then it will also be considered as 5 trips. That is, a total of 10 trips will be reduced from your 200.
Valid only on National Highways and Expressways
Now the most discussed topic about Annual Fastag is on which highways it will be valid. So let us tell you that it will neither be valid on State Highways nor Expressways controlled by the State Government. It will be implemented only on National Highways and Expressways controlled by NHAI. It is also not being implemented on highways with public and private partnerships.
For example, if you leave for Agra from Noida, then your toll on Yamuna Expressway will be deducted from normal Fastag. Annual Fastag will not work on this expressway. This is because this expressway is under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and its control is with the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
How will it be activated and renewed?
If you already have Fastag, then you can activate it on Rajmarg Yatra Mobile App. A link will be issued on the websites of NHAI or MoRTH, which will make this work easy. Let us tell you that the new Fastag Annual Pass Scheme will not only benefit those living near the toll plaza but will also reduce crowds, jams and unnecessary troubles.
