Iran on Wednesday reopened its airspace in the eastern part of the country. The decision was taken when a ceasefire was reached after 12 days of fighting with Israel. On June 13, Iran closed its airspace after Israel launched a major airstrike. In response, Iran also carried out missile attacks. The ceasefire between the two came into effect on Tuesday.
According to Iran's state news agency IRNA, Transport Ministry spokesman Majid Akhavan said that the airspace in the eastern part of the country has now been reopened for international and domestic flights, but only for those flights that take off from or arrive at airports in eastern Iran.
Three other airports also opened along with Mashhad
Akhavan said that Mashhad airport, which was targeted by Israel during the war, has now been reopened. Apart from this, Chabahar, Zahedan and Jask airports have also been reopened. However, he also said that flights to Tehran and the rest of Iran are still not allowed until further notice.
