Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to hand his former club a major boost in the transfer market. United are still chasing summer signings despite already spending more than £120million on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon.
However, after missing out on Champions League football, Ruben Amorim is restricted in the funds he can spend. Therefore, player sales are needed to pave the way for further bids, with the club being linked with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. According to reports in Turkey, Fenerbahce has now made an approach. The Super Lig club is said to have contacted United over the possibility of a move, with United expected to demand a fee between £40m and £50m.
Garnacho, 22, still has three years remaining on his contract in Manchester. Due to the Argentine coming through the club academy at Carrington, any sale would be recorded as pure profit on the club's books.
Mourinho is likely to need all of his persuasive powers to bring him to the Super Lig club, though. Fenerbahce still have to go through a play-off to qualify for the Champions League, and face strong competition from elsewhere.
Chelsea are widely expected to make a bid for Garnacho once they seal the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. In the meantime, he continues to train separately alongside a group of other club outcasts, including Antony and Jadon Sancho.
The likes of Atletico Madrid and Al-Nassr have also been linked. United are now running out of time if they want the issue sorted before the Premier League season begins, with their opening game at Arsenal on August 17.
Along with Garnacho, Antony, and Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund is also expected to be sold. Marcus Rashford has already been removed from the wage bill, temporarily at least, after joining Barcelona on loan.
