Countless Christmas advertisements have been aired on television over the decades by a myriad of supermarkets, clothing brands, and department stores. Morrisons,John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, and Argos have already released their 2025 adverts on mainstream TV - and they've been met with a mixed reaction. While many Christmas adverts are easily forgotten as soon as the New Year rolls around, others have been etched in our memories as we look forward to the festive season each year. Here, Express.co.uk has ranked the best Christmas adverts of all time - and number one is not the beloved 'Holidays are Coming' posting for Coca-Cola...
Heathrow's "Coming Home For Christmas" advert, which hit screens in 2014, was particularly heartwarming thanks to the two elderly bears at its core. The sweet advert follows the little bears as they arrive at the airport and go through passport control. Soon, they walk through arrivals and anxiously wait for someone to claim them. The little bears then transform into human grandparents who their two grandchildren greet with a hug. Coming in at number one is the 2013 John Lewis advert for a mixture of reasons. Firstly, the song choice was simply beautiful. It was a Lily Allen cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" that soared to the top of the charts following the advert's release. And the advert was a real tear-jerker centred around a bear who hibernates and misses Christmas each year. However, his dear friend, a hare, gives him an alarm clock as a festive gift so they can celebrate the special day together. It's just so heartwarming.
