Emma Raducanu has posted pictures of her playing golf and football at the US Open with the caption: "Sports day." The British No.1 needed only 60 minutes - her fastest ever Grand Slam win - to beat Indonesian qualifier Janice Tjen to set up a third round clash with Elena Rybakina. She was given the afternoon off by her new Spanish coach Francis Roig and told Sky Sports: "I'm going to the golf course to try it out. I don't play. I'm just trying it.

"Francis and some friends play golf, so I'll go and try and see how I am. I will go and like swing. We will see how it goes. Get some air time maybe." Raducanu, 22, today posted pictures of her on a golf course and a video of hitting into a green - and celebrating her shot. She also shared an image playing football with Roig after revealing Rafa Nadal's former coach used the sport as a warm-up.

After her second round win, the Bromley-based star said: "Today, honestly I went on to the court, I felt so good because I had like underspin on my kick and I was like flinging my foot. It felt great. So I went on to the court feeling pretty positive because, yeah, the general consensus in the team was that I was kicking the ball well today. So it was a good omen before I went on."

Roig, 57, was part of Nadal's team as the Spanish superstar won 22 Grand Slam singles titles and Raducanu is enjoying his relaxed approach.

"He brings so much," said the 2021 US Open winner. "He brings a lot of good energy. He's constantly joking around. His energy is sometimes, well, most of the time, higher than all of us at the end of the day. But it's great to have that around, that positivity.

"And I feed off it. I love having light energy in my team. And yeah, it's just nice because on the court, I'm always happy, always laughing around him. So I'm just pleased with how it's going.

"We spent a lot of time as well in Cincy because it was just me and him. So, then we were practising a lot and to practise longer, you have to go from like five o'clock at these tournaments because of courts. So we would often spend the whole day, practice late and then have dinner.

"So we spent a lot of time getting to know each other and it's going well. Like time passes really quick. And yeah, it's nice to see some of his family here as well. I got on with them really well, too."
