Nestled in the picturesque English countryside, Champneys Health Spa offers more than just a luxurious escape - it's a favourite retreat for A-listers and wellness lovers alike. With a legacy dating back 100 years, this iconic wellness brand has brought in celebrities like Kate Moss, James Bond legend Daniel Craig and even the late Princess Diana, who have all previously visited the stunning venues.
Upon arrival, you're met with impeccable grounds, manicured gardens, and in the case of the Forest Mere destination, a stunning lake. The spa facilities are extensive and modern, including a 25-metre swimming pool, ice cream, saunas and even a rainforest shower. The treatments, however, are the true standout. I opted for the Body Ritual treatment - a favourite among red carpet regulars - and left feeling like a new woman. It's £98 for 50 minutes so a little pricey, but the experience was worth it for me. My only note was that the spa was very busy as it was a Sunday, so it was tricky finding a space to sit and to make the most of the facilities.
Dining was another highlight. The nutrition-focused menu is both indulgent and health-conscious, with a healthy lunch buffet option and a three-course meal for those staying the night, with which I enjoyed a delicious cocktail. For lunch, I made myself a Caesar salad, and for dinner, I had duck croquette and sea linguine and chocolate cheesecake, all of which were delicious.
The rooms are spacious and elegantly understated, and I loved having a patio with a view of the lake to enjoy a drink on at the end of the night. With the spa being so busy during the afternoon, I would definitely recommend investing in a spa stay rather than break, as the room was one of the highlights for me and I then felt I had time to use everything I wanted.

Champneys manages to strike a delicate balance between exclusivity and accessibility. While it's not unusual to spot a reality star or soap actress at breakfast, the atmosphere remains refreshingly unpretentious. It wasn't a perfect stay, as we found the waiting time to book meal times and to use the spa facilities a little frustrating. But if you're a looking for a spa that ticks all of the boxes, Champneys could be the one for you. And who doesn't like to do a little celeb spotting while having their poached eggs?
