Israel-Iran: Explosions heard as Qatar on high alert for Iran attack

Iran has confirmed it has launched an attack on a US air base in Qatar. Explosions have been reported over the skies above the Qatari capital Doha as the Iran-Israel war looks to have spilled out into other Middle Eastern countries. The Iranian regime has begun retaliatory strikes against US interests in the region, with sources telling Express.co.uk at least six missiles have been launched against Qatar and one against Iraq.

There was no immediate acknowledgment from Qatari authorities of any attack. The reports have emerged as Qatar closed its airspace amid Iranian threats to retaliate against the United States over its bombing early on Sunday of three Iranian nuclear sites.

Iran said that it attacked American forces stationed at Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base. The announcement was made on state television as martial music played. A caption on the screen called it "a mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America's aggression."

Earlier an Iranian state TV presenter has warned up to 50,000 US soldiers will be returned to the United States in coffins after Donald Trump raised the idea of regime change in Iran. Mehdi Khanalizadeh accused the US president of choosing to spill the blood of his soldiers. He added: "The US president in the Oval Office chose to take delivery of the coffins of up to 50,000 US soldiers in Washington."

The warning comes after Mr Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that it wasn't "politically correct" to use the term "regime change" but if Tehran was unable to "MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN" then "why wouldn't there be a Regime change???"
