could be handed the chance to return to the Premier League over the summer. The former has impressed since joining Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, and his performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe.
Greenwood left the Red Devils in a deal worth £27million last summer following a successful La Liga stint with Getafe. He joined the Spanish club after charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour were dropped in February 2023.
United reportedly were planning to reintegrate the forward into their first-team squad, but backlash prompted a drastic U-turn and Greenwood was sold. He has since enjoyed a remarkable campaign with 's Marseille, scoring 20 goals and registering four assists in 35 appearances for the club.
However, despite making an immediate impact in the Ligue 1, Greenwood could be on the move again this summer. According to , the 23-year-old has not settled in France, and interested sides have been 'put on alert' as a result.
Greenwood is not expected to be short of suitors at the end of the season, and two Premier League outfits are said to be among the clubs to have already registered an interest in acquiring his services. Those two clubs remain unnamed at this stage.
United would be in line to benefit from Greenwood heading elsewhere if his exit from the Orange Velodrome is greenlighted. The Red Devils inserted a sell-on clause into the deal with Marseille worth between 40 and 50 per cent, and any injection of funds would be welcomed by Ruben Amorim as he looks to orchestrate a rebuild of his squad over the coming months.
De Zerbi has not been afraid to criticise Greenwood despite his clinical nature in front of goal, dropping the forward from his starting eleven last month after hitting out at his work rate out of possession - which was also slammed by some Marseille supporters.
The ex-Brighton boss has consistently talked up the potential of his No. 10 though, saying: "I would especially like to help him be remembered, in this stadium and by these supporters, as one of the greatest players to have played here at the Velodrome. There have been so many great players here, but I think Greenwood has the qualities to be remembered that way. And I'm trying to help him progress."
