"Two of them on Sambas, and we have had four dance-offs and three of them are people who have went on first, so the maths is against us this week."

He continued with glowing praise: "It's been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I've had a great teacher. She's been amazing, absolutely amazing, and I couldn't wish for a better coach.

"I've loved every minute of it. I can dance now. I won because I can dance. I couldn't dance before, but I can half dance now. It's a bonus, absolute bonus."

Still, the competition heats up as another celebrity is on the verge of leaving on Sunday night, with Punam Krishnan pegged by bookies as the likely next exit.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
