Urgent manhunt after woman sexually assaulted outside Tube station

An urgent manhunt has been launched after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted near a London Underground station. The victim, in her 30s, was allegedly assaulted in Hammersmith Grove at around 3.40am on May 18. She was followed by a man while walking along Hammersmith Grove and past Hammersmith Underground station. He ran off towards Hammersmith Broadway following the incident.

Metropolitan Police officers tracked the man's movements using CCTV from the moments leading up to the assault. He was seen walking along King Street before the offence, and afterwards caught running north on Park Road towards Browning Avenue, before going into a residential area.

The man they are looking for is white, in his 20s, roughly 5ft 8in to 6ft tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a black North Face jacket, black trousers, and white trainers.

The woman is being supported by the force's specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Lucy O'Connor, leading the Met's investigation, said: "Women and girls should be safe to walk the streets of London without being attacked.

"That is why we need to identify a man in connection with this incident and are now asking the public to help.

"If you were in the area on the morning of Sunday, 18 May or if you recognise the man in the footage, please contact us as soon as possible."
