Nintendo Switch 2 fans aren't best pleased with the new Mario Kart World update.
As you can see from the patch notes further down the page, Mario Kart World update 1.1.2 makes a variety of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes.
Unfortunately, however, one of the changes is on the controversial side, as Nintendo changes the way online racing works.
As pointed out by BlueSky user OatmealDome (via VGC), the new Mario Kart World update makes it more likely that online players will race on an intermission course instead of a traditional circuit.
Intermission courses are tracks that connect to one another, often with longer stretches of straight road. Many long-time fans of the series prefer the more traditional races that take place on a dedicated circuit with three laps.
Previously, selecting the Random option in the Online VS mode would guarantee a traditional three lap race. Since the release of update 1.1.2, however, it's now more likely to select one of the intermission courses on offer to the player.
In addition to the Online VS update, the latest patch fixes an issue where you sometimes can't recover quickly after falling off the course in Dino Dino Jungle.
Likewise, it also fixes an issue where you "continually hit the wall near the finish line of Boo Cinema when transformed into Bullet Bill".
