Indian web shows did not only appear in 2025, but they delivered. This year the series offered all sorts of emotions: excitement, terror, romance, comedy, apocalypse, and characters that you can still think of randomly in days to come. These 12 are not simply hits, they are the ones which remained with us. Ps. No spoilers ahead!
Here are 12 Web Series That Had Us Hooked in 2025: 1. Panchayat – S4 | NetflixGenre: Comedy, Political Drama
Season 4 gives more touching humour and spaces of silence. It is about the transformation in the friendship of Abhishek to the village, the problems in rural life and the surprising affection in the simple life. This season explores the characters and has the same lightness and charm that it had in the previous seasons.
2. First Copy | Amazon MX PlayerGenre: Suspense, Drama
Taking place in the gritty and sweaty 90s Mumbai, First Copy is witty and heartwarming and yet also nostalgic in an odd way. The show offers a sharp writing and moody score featuring Munawar Faruqui in an unexpected high energy role, to take a look at the underground pirate world. It is all about ambition, about who you belong to and how much you are ready to go to avoid mediocrity. All the frames reek VHS tapes, urban dirt and defiance.
3. Paatal Lok – S2 | Prime VideoGenre: Crime, Thriller
This is one that went in a sharp left direction, in quite the best way. Once Hathi Ram is sent to the Northeast, the mood changes and the politics take a twist and become all too real. It was no longer a matter of solving a crime, it was more about the crevices in the system. Dense, coarse and acutely honest, it somehow even outdid Season 1.
4. Criminal Justice – S4 | JiohotstarGenre: Legal Drama, Crime
Pankaj Tripathi is back with his unsurpassable poise, charisma and humor. This time, he is plunged into a case that goes too close to home, literally. The play brims over with family drama, acid-tongued lines in the courtroom and that good old sense of simmering emotion. You do not tune into Criminal Justice to get twists and turns; you tune in because of how well the show recognizes human nature.
5. Black Warrant | NetflixGenre: Crime Drama, Thriller
Black Warrant is haunting and beats unemotional intimacy based on the actual stories of the India death row prisoners. You do not binge this, you stay with it. The main stories have the quality of an open wound, making the viewer reconsider the issues of justice, punishment, and the sense of mercy. One does not let it go even after the fade on screen.
6. Dupahiya | Prime VideoGenre: Comedy, Drama
This quirky sitcom is set in the town of small Dhadakpur which has not witnessed crime in the last 25 years and the first case is that of a motorbike stolen by a petty criminal that disrupts the peace of the village. It plays out with rural beauty, rivalry between siblings, local politics, and unexpected laughter. Melded through the heat of normal life, Dupahiya is both satirical and heart-felt like a slightly contemporary Panchayat- and with its own zest.
7. Aashram S3,P2 | Amazon MX PlayerGenre: Crime, Suspense
This time Bobby Deol returns in season 3 as an even darker and intensely energetic Baba Nirala. There is an intense drama, and twists that will capture you beginning to end in this season as the series explores deeply into the web of power and corruption that exist within the ashram.
8. Lafangey | Amazon MX PlayerGenre: Comedy, Drama
Lafangey is relatable and comedic and can be best described as your WhatsApp group in college that got a web series treatment. It is a story of three best friends fumbling their way through adulthood in Noida, struggling with careers, heartbreaks and the meaninglessness of life, with a lot of chai and mad laughs in between. Warm, Awkward, and real.
9. Dabba Cartel | NetflixGenre: Crime, Thriller, Drama
Five supposed ordinary women. There is a single killer secret, and a lot of dabba drama. With underworld tension Dabba Cartel blends the middle-class routine in Mumbai into a spicy thriller sprinkled with suspense in the right measure. Imagine butter chicken and blackmail- combined, and it does work.
10. Khakee: The Bengal Chapter | NetflixGenre: Police thriller, Crime
An angsty cop crime drama thoroughly infused with the flavors of Bengal, this one has a hint of new taste to Khakee world. It is about duty, politics and all in between. Add a few decent performances and tight writing and you have one of the best slow-burns of this year.
11. Gram Chikitsalay | Prime Video
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Wholesome, comic and not obtrusively smart. Gram Chikitsalay is the life of Dr.Prabhat, an unwilling doctor in a sleepy village dispensary. However, with time the location and people begin to appeal to him. This one serves to remind you that you could have low stakes and still make a good show because little things can sometimes speak the loudest.
12. Khauf | Prime VideoGenre: Psychological horror
A horror series not based on gimmicks. Khauf plays with your mind, explores your fears and extracts all you attempt to hide. The acting of Monika Panwar is both memorable and the slow-moving sense of dread that you feel as the episodes progress.
