Bengaluru: Amid heavy rain lashing the city, leading to several deaths, two siblings were feared to have drowned in Kengeri Lake in the city. The brother-sister duo, who lived with their mother in a slum next to the lake, have been missing since Monday evening.According to the police, a search operation has been launched for the siblings, as reported by news agency PTI. In another incident, a 56-year-old woman died in Bengaluru's Sarjapur area while navigating potholes during heavy rains caused by cyclonic conditions.A TOI report stated that the woman was riding pillion on her husband's scooter when a mini-truck collided with them after they slowed down to avoid hazardous road conditions.Another video circulating on social media shows a woman with a disability struggling to navigate a waterlogged street in Bengaluru. The clip shows her sitting on a waterlogged street. As she was being pulled out of a pothole by several people, a passerby handed her a pair of crutches as soon as she stood up. The incident, involving the physically challenged woman who fell into a pothole in Bengaluru's Varthur, was shared on X by the Karnataka authorities.The X handle while posting the video wrote, ''A physically challenged woman recently fell into a pothole in Varthur, a tragic incident that has left utterly speechless. It is shocking and heartbreaking to witness the deteriorating conditions, the people of Mahadevapura, endure, despite contributing over ₹1000 crore in taxes.''
The post further read, ''The authorities seem more concerned with making hollow promises and projecting a false image of progress, while on the ground, we face real threats to our safety and well-being due to poor governance and lack of accountability.
