New Delhi: Residents of Delhi-NCR are waking up to hazy skies and chilly mornings, signalling the onset of winter. The weather is gradually cooling, with a noticeable drop in early morning temperatures. For Friday, the forecast predicts mainly clear skies, and the minimum temperature is expected to dip to around 20 degrees Celsius. These signs mark the approaching winter season in the region. The AQI in the national capital dropped to the 'poor' category, with several areas recording levels in the 'very poor' category.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced on Thursday that special campaigns will be launched through the Green War Room to monitor and control pollution at all 13 hotspots across the city. The campaigns aim to tackle various pollution-related activities. An emergency meeting is scheduled for Friday, where the environment department will meet with key departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), transport department, and Delhi Traffic Police, to coordinate efforts. "Special campaigns will be launched to monitor all 13 pollution hotspots through the Green War Room," Rai said in the statement.The urgency of the situation follows the AAP government's Winter Action Plan, introduced on September 25, outlining 21 strategies to combat seasonal pollution.Rai said implementation of the plan has already begun, with measures including the establishment of a war room to oversee pollution control, bio-decomposer spraying to manage crop stubble, and an anti-dust campaign targeting construction sites, the release noted. Weekly Weather Forecast of Delhi The weather forecast for Delhi from October 19 to October 22 predicts mainly clear skies with temperatures gradually cooling. Maximum temperatures will range around 34 degrees Celsius on October 19 and 20, dipping slightly to 33 degrees Celsius on October 21 and 22.
