Agra: A 40-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint in front of her four-year-old son in UP's Mainpuri district, police said on Tuesday. The woman's husband was suffering from financial hardship and the accused from another caste offered them a Rs 20,000 loan and violated her after she went with him to collect the amount.

SHO Anuj Kumar said, "An FIR was registered against the accused, from the same village, under BNS section for rape along with SC/ST Act following the woman's complaint. She was sent to hospital for medical tests. The accused will be arrested soon. Investigation is on."

In her complaint filed on Monday, the survivor stated that on April 17 when she was returning home after taking her son for a haircut, she saw the accused near a bridge. He offered the loan amount and convinced her to take a ride on his motorcycle. Trusting him, she got onto the bike with her son, but the accused took her to an isolated spot and violated her. During the assault, he threatened to shoot her child if she resisted.

Initially, she remained quiet out of fear. However, her silence only emboldened the man, who started repeatedly calling her over the phone. She eventually gathered enough courage and shared the ordeal with her husband who took her to the local thana. The accused runs a shop selling construction materials in the village and knew the survivor and her husband.

The woman's husband said the man had forcibly taken his wife to sexually assault her. "I want strong action against that man so that he never thinks of repeating such a crime again," the husband added.
