NEW DELHI: The Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport in Indore received a bomb threat email on Saturday night, following which the police registered an FIR.

The email sender also threatened other airports in the country.

Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Singh stated, "We received a threat email yesterday night. In the email sent, he threatened to blow up other airports also. Acting on the application received from the airport security people of the CISF, we have registered an FIR and our objective is very clear that we will get to the bottom of this."

This marks the fourth time this year that Indore Airport has received such a threat. The threat was sent to the airport authority's email, with the sender reportedly using the dark web.

Singh added, "Our technical teams are currently working to check who are the people behind this work. We are also on alert and are constantly in coordination with the airport authority. As of now, we have not found anything."

Previously, on Friday, Vadodara Airport in Gujarat also received a bomb threat via email. ACP Vadodara GB Bambhaniya mentioned that all concerned departments were alerted and that the inner and outer areas of the airport were thoroughly checked by dog squads.

Bambhaniya said, "... The airport received a threatening e-mail yesterday. All departments were alerted. Inner and outer areas of the airport were thoroughly checked by dog squads... Commissioner of Police has handed over the case to the Cyber Crime Team for further investigation..."

Security measures have been increased in loop areas following these threats.
