Bengaluru: Acting suo-motu on a social media video, city police fined an electric scooter rider found watching an IPL match on his mobile while riding the vehicle on the night of April 2.
Prashant K, a resident of Ulsoor and private company employee, was fined Rs 1,500 by Shivajinagar traffic police.
According to police, an individual took a video of Prashant's act while he was riding on Broadway Road, Shivajinagar, and uploaded the same on X.
"The video in the post did not show the licence plate of the vehicle. We collected CCTV footage from Broadway Road and nearby traffic junctions. With its help, we identified the licence plate and reached his residence Thursday. The video clearly showed him fixing the mobile phone on the handle of the e-scooter and watching the match. What was more shocking was that his left hand had a fracture, and he had wrapped a bandage on it. We told him riding a two-wheeler with a fractured hand was risky. In addition, he was watching the mobile while riding," an investigating officer said.
