Salem: A couple on a motorcycle died after they were run over by a truck in Salem on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Settu, 50, and his wife Jothi, 42, of Boominaickenpatti near Salem Steel plant.
Police said the accident took place when the couple were returning to Boominaickenpatti after visiting their newly married daughter at Erumapalayam.
"A truck which was following their bike knocked them down when Settu slowed down the vehicle at Kanthampatti as the road narrowed. The couple was flung off their bike in the impact and suffered severe injuries which killed them on the spot," a police officer said.
The bodies were recovered and sent to Salem govt hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered.
